Sea Changes: Traditions and Transformations in California English Language Arts

Online registration is managed by eventPower. Registration for the convention includes access to super sessions, workshops, major speakers, and the exhibit hall. Meal events are extra (or part of package registrations). We hope online registration will make it easier for you to:

  • verify your own registration
  • register as a group
  • order extra (guest) meals

Group Registration: When finished entering the first attendee’s registration information, you have the option to “Pay now” or “Register another.” Click “Register another” to add to your group.

Purchase Orders: If you are paying by PO, click “Pay now” and choose Payment type: Purchase Order. Enter your PO # and upload your PO. If you don’t have it yet, complete your registration and download an invoice to submit for processing your PO.

If you are using a PO, you must upload a copy of the PO to your portal by February 17, 2023. Registrations without POs are not guaranteed after that date. If you do not have a PO on file, we may require a credit card upon arrival. 

Meals: If your school or district administrator registered you as part of a group, you should log into your attendee portal to select meal restrictions as needed. Your confirmation email contains a link to your portal.

Rate Increase: Register by February 17, 2023 for the best rates. After February 17, registrations will still be accepted online as well as onsite at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa on Del Monte Golf Course at the higher price. Every registration type price increases by $20 after Feb. 17.

CATE Members: If your membership expires after 3/5/2023, you can take a $50 discount on registration. You’ll need your membership # and expiration date, which you can find on your mailing label of the CATE 2023 Convention flyer, or on your mailing label of an issue of California English. To apply your membership discount: You need to enter the promo code CATEMEMBER when you get to the payment screen. There is a reminder on that page, but it’s easy to miss or forget!

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be submitted via email to the CATE Registrar at

There will be a $25 service charge on cancellations before December 31, 2022. There will be a $50 service charge for cancellations between 1/1/2023 and 2/17/2023. No refunds will be given after February 17, 2023 due to our position as a non-profit organization, funded by teachers for teachers. The price for all registrations increases after February 17, 2023. Badges and convention materials must be picked up at check-in.

Payment of registration and event fees must be made within 30 days of the conference.

Checks should be PAYABLE to CATE. Reference your invoice number in the memo line and include the names of your attendees with your payment (or simply include your invoice).

Decide which type of registration you want (see below). Remember, deduct $50 for current CATE members. Prices increase by $20 after February 17, 2023.
