A
Celebration of Musical Theater
San Diego State University MFA Musical Theatre program
Musical comedy is
America's only native theatre art form. San Diego is home to three
theatres that have created musicals for the Broadway stage, and the
home of one of the oldest MFA Musical Theater Programs in the country.
Five members
of San Diego State University's MFA MUsical Theater Program presented
a celebration
of musical theatre, featuring the work of such Golden Age masters as
Irving Berlin, Frank Loesser, Richard Rogers and Cole Porter in addition
to more contemporary work by such artists as Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt
(Colette), George Stiles and Anthony Drewe (Honk!)
and John Dempsey and Dana P. Rowe (The Witches of Eastwick).
